      Expert evidence secures Travis’ TPD payout despite insurer claiming he could return to work

      Travis suffered from severe Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that left him unable to work. He was just 35 years old when he came to us for help with his financial future.

      We began Travis’ claim by obtaining medical evidence of both his condition and its impact on his life. We filed his claim with the insurer, but they countered our medical evidence with independent reports. Upon finalisation of their assessment, the insurer preliminarily decided to decline Travis’ claim. They argued that Travis hadn’t reached maximum medical improvement, his prognosis was uncertain, and he might eventually return to work. This meant he wasn’t entitled to a TPD payout.

      We responded by obtaining further reports from his psychiatrist, psychologist and GP, proving that his condition was unlikely to improve with time or further treatment. We also contended the insurer’s procedural fairness with thoroughly prepared and detailed submissions. By taking this step, we ensure the insurer is notified and held accountable under the obligations outlined in the Life Insurance Code of Practice.

      In the end, our comprehensive approach secured Travis a $500,000 TPD payout.
